What started out as a dreary day, actually turned out to be a pretty decent, successful Monday. I felt like I got a good head-start on my week, and we all know how important that is in order to beat the Monday Blues!
After lifting some weights and relaxing last night, I had a snack of a Fage 2% with Peach, a small organic apple, and an Enjoy Life Caramel Apple bar.
I woke up to a rainy morning, but decided to brighten my mood with another new Amazing Grass Product – Berry Green SuperFood – in a green smoothie.
In the blender:
- 1 cup vanilla light soymilk
- 1 tbsp MaraNatha raw almond butter
- 2 cups organic spinach
- 1 organic banana
- 5 ice cubes
- 1 packet Amazing Grass Berry Green SuperFood
Another delicious Green Goddess!
Solids on the side – dry Kashi Heart to Heart.
Amazing Grass Berry Green SuperFood
Similar to the original Green SuperFood, the Berry flavor dissolved quite nicely in my smoothie and barely changed the texture of the drink. When I opened the package, I was somewhat surprised to see that it looks EXACTLY like the Green SuperFood. For some reason, I guess I thought it would be red (hence, BERRY). As for the flavor, I happy to report that the powder exceeded my expectations! I was pretty weary about adding in an extra berry flavor to my smoothie, but I was surprised at how good it was! I noticed a bit of a chalky taste, but other than that, I’d give it a thumbs up! However, I still have to say that my favorite is the original Green SuperFood… I’d rather add in the extra berry flavor with my own REAL fruits!
After breakfast, I ran into town to get an eyebrow waxing (I swear, it’s not as bad as it sounds
) and pick up a few necessities (spinach, bananas, bread). Once I got back home, I was aching to go for a run, and luckily the weather was cooperating by mid-morning. I ended up running for a full 2 miles, with a .5 mile cool-down walk. LOVE that post-run feeling!
By the time lunch rolled around, I was in the mood for some salmon! I took a mini whole grain bagel and topped it with fat free cream cheese, Wild Alaskan Salmon, and a few organic cucumber slices. SO good! On the side I had a few baby carrots and organic cucumber slices, a peach activia light, and a small glass of V8 fusion.
After lunch, I decided it was time to do some homework.
WAIT!!!! Isn’t it summer vacation???
Yes, my friends, I have homework over the summer. Being in basically all AP classes next year, my crazy teachers decided it would be fun to give us all some lovely work to do over our vacations. That’s what I get for choosing a grueling schedule for senior year!
I spent about an hour working, then took a break to try a new Honest Tea Flavor – Black Forest Berry.
Honest Tea Black Forest Berry
Let me just start out by saying that I am not a “tea girl.” The only tea I’ve ever liked is basically the carbonated iced teas that basically don’t even taste like tea anymore. However, this tea was absolutely delicious! The berry flavor was subtle, yet enough to satisfy my tastes. It wasn’t at all sugary, and the “tea” flavor was pretty faint. Plus, I loved the fact that it was caffeine-free, so I wouldn’t feel guilty sipping on this during all hours of the day!
Later in the afternoon, I went for a 2 mile bike ride to clear my thoughts and get in some exercise.
When I got back, I put together a yummy snack of a Stonyfield Probiotic strawberry yogurt mixed with some organic granola and a mini raison box. I also had an organic plum and a sugar free red bull. Hey, I never said I didn’t like a little caffeine to perk me up!
While I snacked, I got all caught up on The Hills (wow, who else thought that Holly seemed totally lazy and ditzy?).
Dinner rolled around and consisted of boiled potatoes topped with a slow cooker recipe made with lean deer venison, tomatoes, and onions. I also had a slice of an organic cucumber on the side and a glass of skim milk.
My dad finally had a chance to sit down with me tonight and order my new laptop!!! It should be here in about 10 days, so I’m SOOOO excited!!!
The rest of my evening is looking pretty dull with some magazine reading and homework. Hopefully, I can call it an early night and get in some extra ZZzzzz’s.
Hope everyone got their week off to a good start!
Heather

I’ve never seen those granola bars before! Where did you get them at?
I love your lunch! I never thought of adding salmon with cream cheese! Is the salmon raw?
I’m sorry to hear your doing homework! Sadly I’m still studying as well.. when will this madness ever end?? lol

April-
I find the Enjoy Life granola bars at my local Natural Food Store. They’re gluten and nut free, AND delicious!
The salmon is actually cold smoked, so it isn’t “raw” but it also isn’t fully cooked. However, it is VERY good and VERY healthy!

Bagels + lox = heaven. With tomatos, red onion, and capers? Totally NYC.
I’m sorry about the studying – but APs are totally worth it! Which ones are you taking?
Love you! Have a lovely night!

Oh wow, how productive! I too have some homework to do over summer, but there’s no WAY I’d do it this early. Growing up I would literally do my summer reading report the night before the first day of school, and I’ve been known to re-use the same book over and over, and maybe even the same essay…
Delicious eats today! I’m so jealous of all the Amazing Grass drinking going on in blog-land. I really am. $80 for a tub though is just out of the question for me, but I can dream. Your smoothie looks and sounds super yum, and it’s so cute in that AG cup!
Much love,
Rachel

I remember when I was at school, we’d always get homework for the Summer holidays and I always left it till the last minute. Where as the logical thing to do would be to get it over with and enjoy the rest of the holidays
