Side-Note On Squash
November 10, 2009 at 9:46 pm | In Other | 16 CommentsTags: squash, sweet dumpling squash
I just wanted to add to my previous post that I tried a NEW method for roasting my Sweet Dumpling Squash tonight. Normally, I put the squash face-DOWN on the pan to roast, but tonight I tried putting it face-UP. This yielded MUCH better results and I would 100 percent recommend it.
So, here’s the new directions…
- Cut the squash in half
- Deseed/scoop out the insides
- Spray a pan with organic PAM
- Using your fingers, LIGHTLY coat the top of your squash with organic PAM
- Set the squash Face-UP on the pan
- Bake for 35 minutes at 400*
Top with any or all of the following:
- cinnamon (favorite!)
- ginger (favorite!)
- nutmeg
- agave nectar
- nut butter
The delicious results:
ENJOY!
Heather

I always put it face up. But it takes such a long time…

microwave cookes it in less then 10 min

I always roast up and get pretty darn good results so I Was shocked when you were a previous downward roaster. Glad to hear you’ve come to the other side

i tired that before and you are right, somehow the flavor is much more intense that way. maybe its due to the browning of the squash.
thanks for sharing love

I usually cut it up into fries, but this sounds like a much easier (and still yummy) way to eat it! Thanks for the tip

YES! There’s a squash a home that’s been staring at me for 4 days like: “Umm, when are you going to cook me?”
Mr. Squash will be pleased.

I must have eaten about 20 squashes this fall so far, but I am yet to adorn it with your toppings! I am making it a priority, because, quite frankly, it looks to good to miss.
oh, only a food blogger would find beauty in a sea of cinnamon… it’s the best!
