Life is finally starting to calm down and get back to normal for me after being gone for a week and needing to play catch-up. This is a VERY good thing, because one week from today I’ll be starting the dreaded SUMMER SCHOOL.
Nope, not looking forward to summer school whatsoever… especially since it only really feels like I have a week of summer vacation! I’m taking 2 classes this summer, so from June 13th through August 9th I’ll be hitting the books.
Luckily, taking summer classes means that I’ll have a MUCH easier schedule when it comes to the Fall and Spring semesters. Last semester was brutal to say the least and I don’t ever want to experience that stress again if I can help it!
Last night I had a surprise run-in with my oldest big bro… we live in the same city, yet it seems like we rarely get see each other. Seriously love that guy and miss him so dang much!!!
What do a brother and sister do on a hot Sunday summer night at 7:30pm? Go to Starbucks for Decaf White Mocha Light Frappuccinos of course.
We had A LOT to catch up on, and of course it was just great to see him and get a hug from my big brother!
Getting back in my usual routine to start the week, breakfast this morning was a bowl of Nature’s Path Whole O’s topped with unsweetened almond milk and a mountain of cinnamon, with an organic banana on the side.
I got way too much accomplished in the morning for summer vacation. So after lunch I headed out on my apartment’s terrace to get some sun and magazine time!
It was 90*F today and I was LOVING the heat!!!
Being a broke college student, I took up a friend’s request to babysit her two boys this evening. Babysitting really isn’t my thing (kids in general really aren’t my thing ), but her boys are pretty awesome and know how to distract themselves without getting into too much trouble.
I was in a bit of a rush to head out the door, so I grabbed one of these to hold me over.
LOVE Naan, but not the best food to keep my hunger at bay until 9:30pm. Needless to say, a snack is happening ASAP!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Monday!

I feel like I’ve been constantly on-the-go the past couple days! I have a lot that I’ve been putting off getting done until the summer since the school year is always so busy, and I finally started to make a dent on that list along with my usual daily tasks.
The past couple of nights haven’t been the greatest sleep-wise, and I’m the type that hates laying around in bed if I’m not falling back asleep, so I got my butt out of bed at 5am and got a head start on my day. Despite being a little tired, I’m not complaining since I ended up having an awesome morning!
Breakfast was a bowl of Nature’s Path Mesa Sunrise Flakes topped with unsweetened almond milk and an organic banana on the side.
After breakfast I walked to a local Ancora coffee shop for my morning coffee – so good!
After I was fully caffeinated, I decided to go for my daily walk in the morning since it was so nice outside! I used to always go for morning walks in the summer and I forgot how much I enjoyed them.
The highlight of the walk? Saving a baby painted turtle’s life that was trying to cross the road and wasn’t going anywhere fast enough. I put it on a leaf (it was TINY!) and walked over to the lake and set it free. That’s gotta give me good karma or something.
I had some summer clothes shopping I wanted to finish up, so after lunch I headed to the mall and actually got quite a few things. I’m usually a pretty picky and indecisive buyer when it comes to clothes and I tend to leave without many items, but I got lucky today!
On my way home, I was exhausted and the Starbucks I drove by was too tempting to pass up.
Coffee #2 of the day.
I drank it up when I got back to my apartment with a snack – organic peach (seriously so good!), organic mango, and Siggi’s plain yogurt.
The rest of my day is looking much less hectic. I’m teaching a yoga class tonight and getting in my own practice sometime before, but other than that I don’t have much planned! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

… You know it’s finals week.
(Thank you Matt for teaching me the Snipping Tool! )
Finals “officially” started today at UW Madison, but I’ve been lacking in the sleep and general life department for the past 2 weeks or so. I just have to hang in there until Thursday, and then I’ll be free until June 13 – when my summer classes start.
This morning I had a 7:45am exam for my Intro to Buddhism class. I’ve been joking that I’m studying for my Monk Exam to get into the monastery, and the 7:45am exam on a Sunday morning had to do with rebelling against Christian church services. Luckily, I’m pretty sure I made it into the monastery – aka passed the final!
Before my exam, I had a breakfast of a bowl of Kashi GoLean Cereal topped with unsweetened almond milk and an organic banana on the side.
Pre-exam coffee and computer entertainment.
I tried to relax a little today since it was SO nice outside… I was wearing shorts and a tank top and was totally comfortable! I went for a 6-mile walk this afternoon and studied for a bit outside in the sun. LOVE IT!
Later this afternoon and I had a snack of organic raspberries (it’s been forever since I’ve had raspberries!), Fage 0% greek yogurt, an organic kiwi, and a Trilogy Kombucha.
Thanks to everyone for hanging in there with my sporadic posts lately – I promise I’ll be back to regular blogging once all this finals business comes to an end! Hope everyone had a wonderful first weekend of May!

Anyone else SO glad it’s FRIDAY??? Woohoo! The weekend is almost here!
Granted, I have no special plans besides getting massive amounts of studying accomplished and going to bed at an obscenely early time tonight, but Friday’s just a fun day in and of itself.
I only got 3.5 hours of sleep last night, but that’s nothing new and it was well worth it. I have so much I need to get done every day planned out until May 12th (my last day of finals), and I need some time to relax, unwind, and just be me in that mix too!
I woke up half-asleep at 5:30am and had a bowl of Nature’s Path Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon Cereal topped with unsweetened almond milk and an organic banana on the side.
I’m pretty sure I looked exhausted pre-coffee this morning, but luckily I woke up and felt up to my normal high-energy self by my 8:50 class this morning. We had a work day in my Design lab, so I actually brought my Geology books to class since that’s at the top of my list for studying right now. I got quite a bit done and it felt good to make a dent in my work!
The weather is BEAUTIFUL day – 60’s and sunny – so I headed outside for a walk right after lunch. MUCH needed!
Before my Intro to Buddhism discussion this afternoon, I grabbed a quick snack to hold me over: organic medjool dates, organic carrots, raw peanuts, and unsweetened almond milk.
My to-do list for tonight is reading a chapter in Geology, doing a yoga podcast, and then getting some Zzzzzz’s!
Do you ever sacrifice sleep for something you deem “more important?”

Happy Tuesday lovely people!
Long story short, today is my day to schedule for classes next year, and it’s been a stressful morning so far to say the least. To add to the fun, it’s a SNOWSTORM outside!!!
Another normal April day in my world! ;) And the scheduling is all just a part of being a college student, so I’m sure I’ll get through it just fine. 🙂
After my successful grocery shopping trip yesterday, I broke into the goods right away!
For lunch I wanted to try the organic heirloom tomato I had bought, so I decided to top off a wrap with it:
Food for Life Brown Rice Tortilla topped with Wild Wood super firm raw tofu, organic spinach, organic mache, and sliced organic heirloom tomatoes.
With organic green beans, a light activia, and a glass of unsweetened almond milk.
Heirloom tomatoes? Definitely my thing! Loved them!
For an afternoon snack between classes, I tried out one of the organic Ataulfo mangos I bought…
… with an organic kiwi, Fage 2% Greek yogurt, and a Botanic No 7 Organic Raw Kombucha (all just-purchased items).
The mango was fabulous – perfectly ripe! And it’s been a while since I had a Botanic Kombucha – actually a lot better than I remembered! Less perfume-y tasting maybe?
Now it’s back to more schoolwork and scheduling… 3:30pm is my time slot. Wish me luck! 🙂
