… You know it’s finals week.

Finalsofficially” started today at UW Madison, but I’ve been lacking in the sleep and general life department for the past 2 weeks or so.  I just have to hang in there until Thursday, and then I’ll be free until June 13 – when my summer classes start.


This morning I had a 7:45am exam for my Intro to Buddhism class.  I’ve been joking that I’m studying for my Monk Exam to get into the monastery, and the 7:45am exam on a Sunday morning had to do with rebelling against Christian church services. Winking smile  Luckily, I’m pretty sure I made it into the monastery – aka passed the final!

Before my exam, I had a breakfast of a bowl of Kashi GoLean Cereal topped with unsweetened almond milk and an organic banana on the side.

I tried to relax a little today since it was SO nice outside… I was wearing shorts and a tank top and was totally comfortable!  I went for a 6-mile walk this afternoon and studied for a bit outside in the sun.  LOVE IT!

Later this afternoon and I had a snack of organic raspberries (it’s been forever since I’ve had raspberries!), Fage 0% greek yogurt, an organic kiwi, and a Trilogy Kombucha.




Thanks to everyone for hanging in there with my sporadic posts lately – I promise I’ll be back to regular blogging once all this finals business comes to an end!  Hope everyone had a wonderful first weekend of May!









Scheduling + Snow = My Tuesday In a Nutshell

Happy Tuesday lovely people! 

Long story short, today is my day to schedule for classes next year, and it’s been a stressful morning so far to say the least.  To add to the fun, it’s a SNOWSTORM outside!!!



Another normal April day in my world! ;)  And the scheduling is all just a part of being a college student, so I’m sure I’ll get through it just fine. 🙂


After my successful grocery shopping trip yesterday, I broke into the goods right away!

For lunch I wanted to try the organic heirloom tomato I had bought, so I decided to top off a wrap with it:

Food for Life Brown Rice Tortilla topped with Wild Wood super firm raw tofu, organic spinach, organic mache, and sliced organic heirloom tomatoes.


With organic green beans, a light activia, and a glass of unsweetened almond milk.


Heirloom tomatoes?  Definitely my thing!  Loved them!


For an afternoon snack between classes, I tried out one of the organic Ataulfo mangos I bought…



… with an organic kiwi, Fage 2% Greek yogurt, and a Botanic No 7 Organic Raw Kombucha (all just-purchased items).


The mango was fabulous – perfectly ripe!  And it’s been a while since I had a Botanic Kombucha – actually a lot better than I remembered! Less perfume-y tasting maybe?


Now it’s back to more schoolwork and scheduling… 3:30pm is my time slot.  Wish me luck! 🙂








Stuck with the Choices You Make

This is what happens when you don’t do laundry in two weeks.


And this is only HALF of the 4 loads of laundry I did this morning!  

I always say that I never “balance” my life; instead, I prioritize.  I take an overview of everything that needs to get done, and then prioritize my schedule so I accomplish everything I need to (schoolwork, teaching yoga, blogging, studying, going to class, daily chores around my apartment), while still putting my mental and physical health first (exercising, eating healthy, socializing, relaxing). 

Last weekend, laundry was obviously not on my priority list. ;)  Sometimes you’re just stuck with the choices you make, and that meant doing double the laundry loads this weekend.  Yes, it took twice as long, but I put it as a priority this weekend and made the time for it!  And last weekend I accomplished everything that was a priority at THAT time.  It all worked out in the end!


Besides doing my 4 loads of laundry this morning, I got a good head start on my current Design Studies pixelated painting project.  Saturday mornings always tend to be productive for me!  I broke away from the paints to put together my lunch:

Food for Life Gluten-free Tortilla topped with cheddar-style Veggie Slices, organic spinach, and organic mixed herbs.



With organic sliced cucumbers, activia light, and a glass of unsweetened almond milk.


After lunch I headed to the studio for a Power Yoga class.  It had been a few days since I practiced IN the studio since I’d been doing podcasts in my apartment to save time the last couple days, and it felt so good to be in a class again!

Later in this afternoon I grabbed a perfect simple snack – organic kiwi, Siggi’s Icelandic-style yogurt, organic mango, and a Raspberry Klarbrunn Sparkling Water.


It’s 59*F outside right now and the sun is finally peaking out.  Therefore, I need to get my butt outside and go for a walk IMMEDIATELY!  This is the warmest it’s been this Spring and I don’t plan to miss out! 🙂
