Catching Up to Speed

My world has been a slightly hectic the last couple of days, but I’m spreading everything out and getting done everything I need to in an orderly fashion. 🙂

Yesterday, I created a Facebook Page for Health, Happiness, and Hope.  Be sure to check it out and “like” it!

I also want to thank everyone for the sympathy on my hornet’s bite on Wednesday.  I have a mild allergic reaction to the string – just making it a little swollen and red – but nothing serious! 


Between classes, schoolwork, yoga, and blog work, my Thursday flew by!  Mid-afternoon, I took a break for a snack:

Strawberry Serenity Synergy Kombucha, organic nectarine, organic red pear, and a Siggi’s Icelandic style yogurt.



I woke up at 5:30am this morning to get a good start on notes for a paper I’m writing this weekend before I had to head to my Design Studies studioCoffee?  Yes please! 🙂


Instead of our usual Design Studies studio, today we went on a walking tour of the Madison campus to look at the architecture of the buildings.  Normally, this would be awesome; however it was 35*F with a wind advisory, and walking 2 hours in that kind of weather isn’t quite ideal.  It was hilarious when all of our worksheets (and US for that matter) almost blew away in the crazy wind!

That said, I was absolutely chilled and freezing cold when I got back to my apartment!  I think my morning coffee would have worked better post-walk. 😉


Lunch today was a Food for Life gluten-free Tortilla topped with Wild Wood raw tofu, organic spinach, and organic mache.



With organic green beans, activia light, and a glass of unsweetened almond milk.


Classic for me, and FABULOUS!


This afternoon I’m meeting up for coffee/tea with my cousin whom I haven’t seen in over a year!  We were best friends when we were little and I absolutely love her.  We’ll have a lot to catch up on!

Spring = Produce!

Glad everyone enjoyed my 7 Random Facts from this morning! :)  It was fun to choose a few things about me that I might not have otherwise had a chance to share on the blog.


The sun FINALLY made an appearance today!  It was crazy windy and a little chilly, but as long as there’s sun I can deal with it.  I went for a walk this afternoon and took a picture on my phone looking out over Lake Mendota.


Please note the lack of ice covering the lake!  YES!!!


Recently I’ve started to notice the produce abundance growing at the grocery store now that Spring is finally here.  Let’s just say that I am taking full advantage of it!  There is nothing better than loads of fresh fruit and vegetables in warm and sunny Summer months. 🙂

Here’s a few of my produce-filled eats from yesterday and today:

Gingerberry Synergy, organic orange, organic nectarine, Fage 0% Greek yogurt.



Organic cubed mango, Klarbrunn Black Cherry Sparkling Water, Siggi’s Icelandic style yogurt, organic nectarine.



Organic blackberries, organic baby carrots, organic raw cashews, unsweetened almond milk.

Oh, The College Life

Happy weekend fabulous people! 

Today is one of those days where I feel like I’m not doing a whole lot or getting much done, but when I look back I realize how much I’m accomplishing.  Doing laundry, studying for a Statistics exam, rereading and submitting my final draft of my 10-page Intro to Cultures of Asia essay, hitting a Power Flow Yoga class at the studio, going for a 4-mile walk outside… overall a highly successful Saturday so far by my standards! 🙂

I woke up at 5:45am to get started on my lovely college studying, and promptly changed from pajama shorts…

to these fleece PJ pants:


HA!  Not exactly my most stylish moment, but since I knew I’d be sitting around my apartment studying all morning, I let the fashion crime slide. 😉

After yoga this afternoon I was craving some mango (my most recent obsession) and put together a snack of organic mango, Fage 0% Greek yogurt, organic kiwi, and a Synergy.



I’m surprised that the mangos are so delicious lately since it’s a little early for their peak, but I guess that mangos are naturally fabulous in Peru… or so my sticker says. 😉


Despite the SNOW, I decided I needed to get outside for a walk!  There’s just something about the outdoors that let’s me clear my mind and start fresh and energized once I get back inside.

I’ll definitely be calling it an early night tonight so I can be at the top of my game for studying tomorrow.  Can’t wait until Monday is over and these exams are DONE! (Well, at least until finals. ;))  I rented How Do You Know from Redbox to relax with tonight, and I’m hoping it’s a good comedy to get my mind off the books.


Thanks for the compliments on my Design Studies artwork in the last post.  It’s a difficult class, but actually pretty fun!

Making My Way One Exam at a Time

First off, THANK YOU everyone again for the wonderful birthday wishes!  It was a low-key day, but I loved it.  My oldest brother called me in the evening, and it was wonderful to chat with him.  We’re planning a brother-sister get-together as soon as my workload calms down! :) 

On that note, my “busiest week of college to date” is slowly lessening in intensity as I get through the mega-list of exams.  This morning I had an Environmental Geology exam that I think went decently well.  Sometimes it’s tough to know how you did on an exam right after taking it, and that’s how I felt with this one.  So we’ll just have to wait and see!

Before my exam, I had a breakfast of a bowl of Trader Joe’s Organic Golden Flax cereal topped with unsweetened almond milk with an organic banana on the side.




This was the first time I tried this cereal, and I must say that I really like it!  It seems to hold me over quite well too, which is always a bonus for a hectic college student’s life. 🙂

After breakfast, I taught an 8am Yoga class at the studio before heading out to my exam in the Geology building WAYYYYYY the heck out in the middle of nowhere on campus.  Seriously, the UW Madison campus IS the city of Madison.  I walk about 4 miles alone just getting to my classes!  I actually don’t mind it at all when the weather is nice, but when today’s temperatures are like this (the bottom one is outside)…


… I’d rather the building be a bit closer.


This afternoon I had a typical snack:  Synergy, organic kiwi, organic blackberries, and a Fage 0% Greek yogurt.


It’s been way too long since I’ve had blackberries.  SO good!

I’m taking an Intro to Buddhism class this semester, and this afternoon we literally meditated the entire class (1 hour and 15 minutes).  A certified meditation teacher came in and led the mediation, so it was actually a neat experience.  Although I’m a Yoga practitioner, I don’t normally meditate!  It was great to get a peek into another aspect of the practice.  Have you done any meditation before… on your own or with an instructor?

Tonight is another low-key evening… I’m heading to a Power Yoga class and hoping to get some more studying done!  I love Thursdays because we all know tomorrow is FRIIIIIDAYYYY! 😀









Flying By

I’m sad to see Spring Break fly by so quickly, but I do feel like I’m getting a lot accomplished.  I really needed to take some time to do some life planning (that IS what college is for, right?), and I feel like I’m on a great track for my future now!  I’m the type of person who always needs a life plan to work towards and a visualization of myself living that life as a goal.  It helps me keep my priorities straight and attain a sense of accomplishment from the little things I do to make that lifestyle happen! How about you – Are you a life planner?  Or do you tend to take things day by day?

Today was another busy one!  I taught an 8am yoga class this morning and then headed out to get a few errands done.  I LOVE that I don’t even need a coat to walk outside these days!  After I finished my errands, I decided to use up a free drink coupon from Starbucks (yes, I’m one of those addicted gold card members!) and grab a tall soy latte.


I needed the extra energy to help me study this lovely subject:


Ah, Environmental Geology.  I have a mid-term next week, so it’s a work in progress to slowly retain all the necessary info from Chapters 6-10.

It was in the 50*F’s today – Hello Spring! – and I took full advantage of the weather with another 4-mile walk this afternoon.  The wind, however, was CRAZY! Downtown Madison is literally an isthmus between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona…

… so windy days are often taken to the extreme with wind currents coming from the Lakes.  Even so, I’ll take this warm weather ANY day over the freezing snow! 🙂

This afternoon I had a fabulous simple snack:  Siggi’s Icelandic-style yogurt, organic mango, organic kiwi, and a Trilogy Synergy. 


If you have not tried Siggi’s yogurt yet, you MUST run to the grocery store immediately and buy one.  It’s THAT good!  It’s even thicker than greek yogurt and has a similarly fabulous taste.


I bought mine at Whole Foods, but I have also seen it at a local grocery store.

This evening’s plans are to get started studying for a Psych Stats mid-term that’s coming up.  Productivity certainly isn’t a bad thing! 🙂
